Ultimaker 3  PP natural

PP (Polypropylen) ist einer der am weitest verwendeten Kunststoffe überhaupt.
Ultimaker PP  ist sehr haltbar.
Es hat eine hohe Zähigkeit, aussergewöhnliche Ermüdungsbeständigkeit und eine geringe Reibung. Es hat auch gute chemische, wärmebeständige und elektrische Widerstandsfähigkeit. Von elektrischen Komponenten bis hin zu funktionierenden Scharnieren ist PP das Material für Prototyping und den Endverbrauch.


Gründe Ultimaker PP zu wählen:

  • Langlebig mit hoher Zähigkeit und Ermüdungsbeständigkeit (PP behält seine Form nach Torsion, Biegung und / oder Biegung)
  • Geringe Reibung und glatte Oberflächen
  • Halb-flexibel
  • Chemische Beständigkeit gegen eine Vielzahl von Basen und Säuren, einschliesslich industriellen Reinigungsmittel

How to print with Ultimaker PP

 

PP (polypropylene) is a commonly used polymer in the industry. Properties of Ultimaker PP include exceptional layer bonding and good adhesion to the build plate, especially when using adhesion sheets included in the Advanced 3D Printing Kit (for Ultimaker 2+ or Ultimaker 3).

Please note that the pre-configured Cura profiles for Ultimaker PP have been exclusively developed for the Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 3. The instructions on this page are for these 3D printers only.

Always use the latest version of Cura and make sure that your 3D printer is updated with the latest firmware version to include the correct material profile for Ultimaker PP.

Note: The information provided here applies to Ultimaker PP, similar quality can not be guaranteed with third-party filaments.

Recommended settings

Temperatures

Ultimaker PP can be printed with a build plate temperature of 85 - 100 °C and nozzle temperature of 205 - 240 °C. Use the below table to find the temperatures per printer and nozzle size to achieve the best print results. Please note that there is no profile for a 0.25 mm nozzle because the extrusion of PP through such a small nozzle is unreliable.

Note: On the Ultimaker 3 the nozzle and build plate temperature on the first layer may be different due to the 'Print Temperature Initial Layer' and 'Build Plate Temperature Initial Layer' settings in Cura.

The settings listed in the table are used for the Ultimaker PP print profiles in Cura for different Ultimaker printers. For best results, it is crucial to select the correct printer, nozzle diameter, and material in Cura. It is also important to ensure you have selected the correct material on your Ultimaker 3D printer to automatically use the corresponding temperatures.

Cooling

For the most consistent print quality, the default print cooling fan speed for Ultimaker PP is 10 - 20%. This ensures smooth surfaces (especially for overhangs) and good bridging.

Note: Avoid excessive cooling to prevent warping.

Adhesion

Ultimaker PP is prone to warping. The use of adhesion sheets is essential for the best print quality.

Accessories

The use of the adhesion sheets (available separately or in the Advanced 3D Printing Kit for the Ultimaker 2+ or Ultimaker 3) is strongly recommended when printing with Ultimaker PP. This ensures optimal adhesion to the build plate. Please note that using glue as an alternative adhesion method will be insufficient for reliable adhesion of large prints.

To prevent warping, we also recommend using the front enclosure included in the Advanced 3D Printing Kit (for the Ultimaker 2+ or Ultimaker 3). This will keep the temperature inside the 3D printer at around 45 °C and provides a higher print success rate, better quality, and better performance of the printed parts.

Cura build plate adhesion

All default profiles for Ultimaker PP in Cura use a large brim (20 - 25 mm) as a build plate adhesion type. A brim is made of several extra printed lines around the initial layers of the 3D print to ensure successful adhesion to the build plate and to avoid warping. Please note that a brim will reduce the printing area of your build plate.

Ultimaker PP is safe to print when using the recommended temperature settings listed above. To ensure a comfortable and healthy environment, we recommend 3D printing in a well-ventilated area.
